World Suicide Prevention Day
Dear Growers,
This week is Suicide Prevention Week, and as therapists and humans we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of raising awareness. The topic of suicide can be triggering for so many, and it’s often avoided out of fear and discomfort—however, from what research tells us, one of the greatest tools of prevention is destigmatizing this topic, and bringing it into the open.
We are fortunate that the availability of resources and support is ever expanding, and whether you are someone who experiences suicidal thoughts, or you care for and support someone who does, there are a variety of options available. NAMI (The National Alliance of Mental Illness) offers a plethora of information, and this year California’s mental health services resource page (Each Mind Matters) has provided a suicide prevention toolkit.
Currently, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. If you are feeling concerned, you can reach out to connect with someone on our team.
If you or someone you know is in an emergency, call The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or call 911 immediately. There is also a text line available (741741).
In wellness,
Jacqueline
