Gratitudes and Gifting to Help Lift Your Spirits for the Holidays

Gratitudes and Gifting to Help Lift Your Spirits for the Holidays

Another year come and gone and it feels like Christmas this year came so quickly. A couple of years ago I made a blog on how to use distress tolerance during the holidays but this year I wanted to focus on the parts of giving back to others and gratitudes.

I know around this time, people are experiencing seasonal depression or even feeling like the holidays are coming so fast. People may even feel lacking - they aren’t as excited for the holidays as they want to be. This is a blog post for the people who want to try to get into the spirit.

These are just some suggestions, so if you feel these don’t resonate with you then I hope this can at least inspire others to find something that can bring up your spirits and mood for the holidays if you are looking for it.

Contributions are a great way to give back to others to help the mood. For a lot of people who feel doing things for others brings them joy this is something to think about. I want you to think about people in your life who mean a lot to you whether it be friends or family or people who made a positive impact on you. This is a great time to reach out to them and do something nice for them.

Thoughtful gifts are always nice and for the season. Thinking of a person who you care about and what their interests and likes are. Contributions don’t have to be about physically sentimental bought gifts either. If you are an artist of some form think about making things for others such as sewing, drawing, making a video, cooking, and etc. If you feel self-conscious about making something write even a nice message and reach out to people who mean a lot to you. Send letters if you’re feeling extra or even a nice text or phone call. The last thing, it doesn’t have to be any gift contribution could even be just helping out someone in need whether it be a shoulder or even helping to do tasks if you have the mental and physical capacity.

Remember these are just suggestions and ideas. Though this isn’t meant to be a full cure for the seasonal blues it can be a nice pick-me-up or even spark some nice feelings with others and maybe a connection and conversation for the holidays.
